Preceeded by research co-operations in the fields of Bee-Research and Computer Science, an Agreement of Cooperation was signed in 2003 by the Rectors of the Universty of Ngaoundéré and the University of Bremen. In 2006, a workshop series on Environmental Sciences has been started: 2006 in Ngaoundéré, 2007 in Bremen, 2009 in Ngaoundéré, 2012 in Bremen. A Subject Related Partnership (SRP) has begun with the support of DAAD in 2009. The subject related partnership is supported by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). |

March-April 2010: Spring school An exchange was organized in March-April 2010 between the two partners: Profs. from Ecology and Computer Science, and the head of the international office of the University of Bremen travelled to Ngaoundéré for an expert meeting on teaching. Two lecturers and one student from Ngaoundéré accompanied the group to Bremen, where they attend lectures, inform staff and students about the partnership. Bremen's Master student Wojtek Sczygiol stays for three months in Ngaoundéré. We hope to read soon from him in our blog.

November 2009 Djabbama! We welcomed Dr. Méguéni and her two students for a one month visit to the University of Bremen. They participated in teaching and studying and explored the research possibilities at our university. With Dr. Lang, head of the International Office of Bremen, the potentials of the partnership were discussed. Also they were invited by Prof. Venzke to take part in a one day field trip to landscapes of Northern Germany. Dr. Méguéni gave two talks on the Université de Ngaoundéré and the possibilities for study and research offered. The programme for the third joint workshop on environmental sciences, to be held at the Université de Ngaoundéré in December was finalized. |

September 2009 On invitation of Dr. Brückner, Insitute for Bee Research, Prof. Fernand Nestor Tchuenguem visited the University of Bremen for the fourth time since 2002 for a research stay, funded by DAAD. He gave a talk entitled Go-Cameroon! about the University of Ngaoundere and his bee research. Raimund Kesel discussed with him approaches to combat desertification (left picture). Olga Kengni Ngangmo, Fadimatou Hamadjoda and Hortense Boudjou Tchapgouo were invited by Veronika Oechtering to attend the Informatica Feminale within the SRP (right picture). |

With a visit from Prof. Heyser and Prof. Koehler, the DAAD funded Subject Related Partnership between the University of Bremen and the University of Ngaoundéré (Cameroon) entered a new stage. In a 6 day conference and consultation process, important agreements were made, concerning the exchange of students and staff, the development af Master's curricula in Ecology and Computer Science, the revitalization of the alumni-portal www. alumni-kamerun.net and the Third Workshop on Environmental Sciences (Focus: Education) to be held in Dec. 2009 in Ngaoundéré. The rectors of both universities as well as the German embassy in Yaoundé renewed their commitment to and their interest in the partnership. |
