February 2009:

From March to August Justyna Grzelak will do research on toxicity and biodegradation of ionic liquids. She holds a DBU sholarhip.

Members of the UFT have decisively participated in writing three papers which are very popular with the Green Chemistry Journal. The following publications have been listed in the “Top Ten” for November 2008 respectively in the “Hot Articles”: Annegret Stark, Peter Behrend, Oliver Braun, Anja Müller, Johannes Ranke, Bernd Ondruschka and Bernd Jastorff, Green Chem., 2008, 10, 1152: Purity specification methods for ionic liquids. --- Marianne Matzke, Stefan Stolte, Karen Thiele, Tanja Juffernholz, Jürgen Arning, Johannes Ranke, Urs Welz-Biermann and Bernd Jastorff, Green Chem., 2007, 9, 1198: The influence of anion species on the toxicity of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium ionic liquids observed in an (eco)toxicological test battery. --- Daniel A. Waterkamp, Michael Heiland, Michael Schlüter, Janelle C. Sauvageau, Tom Beyersdorff and Jorg Thöming, Green Chem., 2007, 9, 1084: Synthesis of ionic liquids in micro-reactors - a process intensification study. --- Congratulations!

January 2009:

The DAAD again financially supports the cooperation with the University of Gdansk (Poland). 10 german researchers will visit Gdansk this year and 15 polish researchers will come to Bremen.

22.Jan. 09: A workshop "Biocompatible Nanomaterials" with Dr. Mark Crane to evaluate the UFT research strategy.

December 2008:

We welcome the working group of Prof. Will in the UFT ionic liquids team - especially Dr. Bernd Rathke and Dr. Vlad Romeo Vale

Ioana Stan has finished her work at Bremen and unfortunately left our group at the end of this year - we will miss her very much. Good luck and all the best for you, Ioana!

November 2008:

Members of the UFT and the department „Sustainable Chemistry“ (Jorg Thöming and Stefan Stolte) are involved in the organisation of the „Chinese-German Workshop on Ionic Liquids“ – in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Urs Welz-Biermann, Director of China Ionic Liquid Laboratory (CHILL). The workshop will take place at Dalian/China from November 2–5, 2008. For more details see CHILL-Homepage. Dalian Workshop

July/August 2008:

We are glad to welcome two new PhD-students in our team: Jennifer Schmeier (since July 1, 2008) and Chul-Woong Cho (since August 1, 2008).

June 2008:

We are sorry that Johannes Ranke, member of our group for many years, will leave us on June 30, 2008 and work in Switzerland – we will miss him. Good-bye and good luck, Johannes!

January 2008:

We welcome the working group of Prof. Schröers in the UFT ionic liquids team - especially Dr. Jan Köser
